The First Meeting With Northern Cyprus

It's been a few years since me and my husband experienced perhaps one of the most exciting weeks of our lives and discovered a real gem - we had the first meeting with Northern Cyprus. We participated in a real estate seminar in a place that I hardly knew existed. Cyprus as an island in itself was familiar and the southern part of the island is a well-known holiday destination for Finns, but which completely surprised us was the incredibly beautiful nature and such a deep feeling of friendliness of Northern Cyprus, peace and security that we have never experienced anywhere before, even though we have traveled to Mediterranean countries before.
That feeling is very hard to explain or describe to family and friends, let alone complete strangers. However, already during this first week that we spent in Northern Cyprus, I strongly felt that this is a place that I really hope Finns will find. For us, from the beginning, it has also been a place that we can feel like home, and where we want to live and be.
More than 300 sunny days a year guarantee that it's easy to smile and be in a good mood. Delicious food and affordable prices allow for great dinners out, and there are many wonderful historical places to explore for those whom are hungry for culture. No matter where you go in the northern part of the island, you are as if in the embrace of the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, and the landscapes are so breathtakingly beautiful that at least we are also deeply moved by it every time.
There are pine valleys as far as the eye can see, and nature is always green despite the summer heat. You can meet (and feed 😊) wild donkeys, experience the hatching of baby turtles, or even see a large flock of migrating herons that stop on the island to rest. Olive groves, citrus plantations and numerous other crops serve the best with their cleanliness and, of course, their freshness.
The kindness of people and the genuine desire to help, as well as the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle, are really things that we all could fill our backpacks, so that we could cope better in the darkness of the North, in our lives filled with all the hustle and bustle, tasks and schedules. And if for some reason you don't have a backpack with you on the trip, I'm pretty sure that visiting the island will remain such a strong experience in your heart that you'll want to come to the island again and again.
